Sunday, May 11 is Mother’s Day. Everyday is Mother’s Day, but the second Sunday in May is dedicated to all Mothers, so do something special for Mom, I.e., serve her breakfast, get her a big bouquet of flowers, take her out for dinner, whatever she enjoys because you love her so much.

Since the last meeting, the Deacons made 76 calls, sent 47 cards, and made 17 visits. Flowers not taken by the donor were delivered to our homebound members and friends. Transportation was provided as requested. Communion on April 20 th was served to 66 people. The next Communion will be on May 11 th.

The North Valley Caring Services located at the Sepulveda Methodist Church at Rayen and Sepulveda Blvd. , is looking for volunteers to help with their breakfast program from 7:00-9:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Anyone who would like to help, check with Evy Dreis for information, They also have facilities for showers for the homeless and we have asked Session permission to have a “Towel Shower“ on Sunday, June 1 st, please bring your clean used towels that day. Also, please remember to bring your canned and dry goods for our Food Pantry.

The Deacons are planning a “Cookie Sunday” for May 25 th for the Veterans at the Sepulveda VA Hospital. Deacon, Janet Malagnini will deliver them. The veterans really appreciate them.

The next Deacon meeting will be on Wednesday, May 21 st at 7:00 p.m. in Room 7. Until then, I leave you with the following from the book, “ Noah’s Favorite Animal Jokes,” by Jennifer Hahn--
